Left nostril pain driving me crazy?

Woke up this morning and my left nostril hurts like when i move it or touch it, It looks a little red compared to the other, not noticeable from a distance and it seems a bit swollen again not noticeable. But it really hurts on the outside of the nostril, the right nostril is painless and looks fine. It hasnt changed in pain or appearence since 7 AM this morning and its now 5 PM. What could this be? Its driving me crazy. I have held myself back and not touched the area for fear of spreading an infection if thats the cause.
